Everything You Need to Know About Nutanix Multi-cloud Solutions

April 4, 2023 by NOVIPRO

Labour shortages and rising costs are making it increasingly difficult for businesses to safeguard data and operations. Coming to the rescue, Nutanix is a multi-cloud solution, combining the simplicity and agility of a public cloud with the security and performance of a private one.

With centralized management, automated operations, and the power of machine learning, Nutanix keeps things running like a well-oiled machine.

"Right now, companies are looking for cost-effective ways to manage their workload and data," says Vladimir Appolon, Head of Presales System Engineers at Nutanix. "Our multi-cloud solution is for organizations that require flexibility and choice."

Nutanix maximizes flexibility

Headquartered in San Jose, Nutanix also operates out of offices in North Carolina, Singapore, and India. The company's software layer uses a distributed private cloud to manage operations. The solution can therefore spread out across different geographical locations via Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and (soon) Google Cloud.

"A company using a public cloud can save money by migrating certain data (either manually or automatically) between various public providers and its own private server," explains Vladimir Appolon.

For example, archival data requires little maintenance, so leaving it on the public cloud would minimize costs and simplify access. Conversely, more sensitive data would benefit from being stored on the organization's private servers.

Compatible with a wide range of servers

Nutanix offers all the flexibility required for your hardware and software infrastructure. Vladimir points out that the platform "runs on commodity hardware, making it accessible at a low cost."

Additionally, the solution supports multiple x86 platforms from industry leaders such as Dell, Lenovo, and Fujitsu. Nutanix is also compatible with VMware and Microsoft Hypervisors. Greatly simplifying operations management, the solution's infrastructure and user experience remain consistent, no matter where the data resides.

Machine learning boosts performance

Due to the labor shortage, more and more organizations are automating operations whenever possible. Responding to these business realities, Nutanix offers robust automation features that require zero programming.

These functions manage not only hardware infrastructure (memory, storage space, network ports, processors, etc.) but also workloads by cutting back on repetitive tasks.

Indeed, Nutanix stands out from other multi-cloud solutions by leveraging machine learning to identify tasks that can be automated.

"Artificial intelligence keeps its eye on performance," explains Vladimir. "It looks at the many workloads on the Nutanix platform to identify resource allocation and network traffic. For example, AI might spot a task using 32 GB of RAM when only 16 is needed. Upon doing so, it'll inform the right decision makers, allowing them to reassign unused memory accordingly."

As Vladimir illustrates, Nutanix machine learning is a powerful decision-support tool that can generate long-term savings.

What types of businesses benefit from multi-cloud solutions?

According to Vladimir, medium- to large-size organizations from all industries benefit from multi-cloud solutions. Nutanix, in particular, offers the kind of flexibility and simplicity that makes it a standout among a wide range of clients. "Flexibility is one of our most crucial assets," he says. "Compared to traditional infrastructure solutions, ours takes far fewer specialists for managing servers, networking, virtualization layers, etc."

Lastly, Nutanix is recognized for its exemplary customer support and experience—from presales to operations. Supporting this claim is its high Net Promoter Score (a score gauging customer loyalty on a scale of -100 to +100). "For the last seven years, Nutanix has ranked above +90," concludes Vladimir. "Most traditional manufacturers are somewhere between 30 and 40."
